One-Day Seminar – Lincoln and Reconstruction – hosted by Sandia Preparatory School

September 27, 2018 @ 8:00 am - 3:00 pm

This program is a study of Lincoln’s struggles, ideas, and plans to reconstruct the Union during and after the Civil War. Special emphasis is placed on the challenges he faced in trying to win the war while simultaneously laying the groundwork for a reconstructed country, and how his ideas about the status of slaves changed over the course of the war. Documents studied include those from before and during the war, helping participants understand Lincoln’s beliefs and plans, and how they evolved over more than a decade of public life.
